My experience at the recent health forum

I stated that the core issue is not being discussed, just more rhetoric about how the money will get rearranged.  I went on to say that the debate is being framed as a health care issue when in reality it is only a disease care issue.  Disease care that is based on a profit motive which translates to disease management for profit.  Where is the motive for people to be or get healthy?  The motive is to maximize profits from the diseases of people.  Those people's diseases and all of our potential diseases have become current and future assets/income entries on the balance sheets of huge corporations, which are mostly publicly traded.  All publicly traded companies have to, by law, maximize profits for the share holders.  There you have it, an unholy alliance between the pharmcuetical companies, health insurance companies, American Medical Association and even the FDA.  All this when holistic health care approaches offer inexpensive, efficient, humane, preventative and post-diagnosis treatment options.  Not to throw the baby out with the bath water; there is a lot of good in modern medicine and there are certainly a lot of good people, not a very good system however.

Maybe enough of us will see through the sham and start to make some new choices.

That is the hope I hold in my heart as people suffer every day because of an unhealthy system.

Be well, live well,
